Jintropin AQ [somatropin (rDNA origin) injection] is a human growth hormone (hGH) produced by recombinant DNA technology. Jintropin AQ has 191 amino acid residues and a molecular weight of 22,125 daltons. The amino acid sequence and structure of the product is identical to that of pituitary-derived human growth hormone.
Without lyophilization in manufacturing process Avoiding lyophilization process can decrease the aggregation of rhGH molecules and produce a product with higher biological activity comparing with freeze- dried rhGH. Jintropin AQ thus has a better long-term clinical effect comparing with freeze-dried rhGH. It comes pre-mixed in pens for needle-less injection.
Jintropin AQ is more sensitive to temperature. It can be stable at room temperature for only about 3 days. Therefore, during shipping and storage it has to be kept cold as long as possible. Shipping and handling cost therefore is higher.
Jintropin AQ’s price is higher than normal powder. It is sold in 30IU cartridges. Price is $4.5/IU, the pen cost $60 (it will last about 2 years), in each package there are two free needles included. Each needle, if used properly, should last a week.
